THEY SAY
In eighteenth century Romania, Rayne, a dhampir (half-human,
half-vampire), prone to fits of blind blood rage but saddled with a
compunction for humans, strives to avenge her mother's rape by her father,
Kagan, King of Vampires. Two vampire hunters, Sebastian and Vladimir, from
the Brimstone Society persuade her to join their cause.
WE SAY
Just what the world has been clamouring for: another Uwe
Boll movie! (Note: sarcasm.) Boll of course made the abysmally bad
Alone in the Dark, based on a computer game just like Bloodrayne.
However give Boll some credit: the man's talent must
lie in somehow getting an actor of Ben (Gandhi) Kingsley's
calibre to appear in something like this!
Anyway, not even the trailer can make Bloodrayne
look good so enter the theatre at your own risk . . .
The half-naked prostitutes in the scene with Leonid (Meat
Loaf) are actually real Romanian prostitutes. According to director Uwe
Boll (at the Stockholm International Filmfestival) it was cheaper to hire
real prostitutes than actresses.
