Starring: Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley, Kris Kristofferson, Jennifer
Jason Leigh, Kelly Lynch, Brad Renfro And Daniel Craig Director: John Maybury
U.S. Opening Date: March 4, 2005
This movie starring the kissy bloke from The Pianist
(he was also the retard in The Village) just
might work, even though it seems to be a mixture of
Jacob’s Ladder, The Dead Zone and
The Butterfly Effect all thrown together.
Still, one can hope can’t one?
And it does star Keita Knightly of Pirates of the
Caribbean and King Arthur fame who is a hottie (and was
depressingly enough born in the year that I finished school . . . sigh).
Plot Summary for
The Jacket (2005):
After recuperating from a gunshot
wound to the head, Gulf War veteran Jack Starks (Adrien Brody) returns to
his native Vermont suffering from amnesia. When he is accused of murdering
a police officer and committed to a mental institution, a physician, Dr.
Becker (Kris Kristofferson), puts him on a controversial treatment regimen
in which Starks is injected with experimental drugs, confined in a
straight-jacket, and locked for extended periods in the body drawer of the
basement morgue. In his drugged and disoriented state, Starks’ mind
propels him into the future, where he meets Jackie (Keira Knightley), and
discovers that he is destined to die in four days. Together, they search
for a way to save him from his fate.
Mark Wahlberg and Colin Farrell were both considered for
the role of Jack Starks before Adrien Brody landed the role.
At one point, Training Day director Antoine Fuqua
was attached to direct.
Lady Anne Lambton was originally cast as Nurse Harding.
During principal photography, she fell ill with pancreatitis and was
unable to continue filming.
Keira Knightley credits the food poisoning she had during
her audition for landing her the part of a sickly alcoholic.
