In Chill Out Scooby-Doo!, the latest full-length animated
straight-to-DVD effort, the Scooby gang's Paris vacation is derailed when
Scooby and Shaggy somehow end up in the Himalayas. There they come across,
you guessed it, the Abominable Snowman. (Snowperson in politically
correct parlance?) Or is it yet another guy in a mask as always?
If it's any hint, unlike Scooby-Doo and the
Alien Invaders, Chill Out Scooby-Doo! closely follows the
traditional Scooby plot conventions and doesn't offer any supernatural
elements. The animation is okay (much better than the original late-1960s
Hanna-Barbera show it is inspired by) and the voice talents especially Casey
Kasem as Shaggy are spot on.
An average entry in the franchise, Chill Out Scooby-Doo! will appeal
the most to long-time fans and small children. After all, it is basically a
20 minute episode stretched out to 73 minutes.
