SPECIAL EFFECTS - BEHIND THE SCENES PODCAST INTERVIEW
The Sci-Fi Movie Page's own Rob Vaux recently visited Austin, Texas for a
behind-the-scenes visit to find out how the special effects were done for
Predators, now out on DVD.
Greg Nicotero is one of the mad geniuses at KNB visual effects,
responsible for some of the most memorable and horrifying sci-fi effects
in recent years. He cut his teeth studying under the legendary Tom Savini
before co-founding KNB in 1988.
Since then, his work has appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows, under
such immortal directors as John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, George A. Romero,
Clive Barker and Quentin Tarantino. He also acts as the go-to guy for
Robert Rodriguez, who tapped him to reimagine the titular monsters in
Predators. He sat down to talk
to the press shortly before the DVD release of the film, demonstrating
some samples of his handiwork and speaking at length about his work.
