TREMORS

1990, 96 Minutes, Directed by: Ron Underwood
Imagine the little desert town of It Came
from Outer Space II being threatened by a bunch of Medusa-headed, man-eating worms
from Dune with an attitude and you have a pretty good idea what Tremors
is all about. Sure, this is 1950s B-movie type stuff but Tremors is fast-paced,
funny and clever enough to make it all worth watching.
Fun in an instantly
forgettable sort of way, yeah, but worth the price of a rental alone for the funny
gun-toting survivalist couple in the movie. File this one under unexpected small surprise
- a bit like The Hidden . . .
Incredibly,
Tremors became such a popular cult hit that it spawned three direct-to-video sequels
and even a TV series on the Sci-Fi Channel! Who would have guessed?
Anyway, the sequels are: Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996), Tremors
3: Back to Perfection (2001), and Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004).
Sci-Fi Movie Page Pick:
Fun.
Dune lookalike worms attack a small desert town. Enjoyable and
funny mayhem ensues mostly because of the local survivalist gun nut couple.
